Step-by-Step Guide
Set up
- This event's competition format is one clean and multiple presses for reps under a time limit.
- Rest the log on the floor within reach before beginning, with enough clear space around it to drive upward, catch it in the front rack and press it overhead.

Step 1 of 4
Crouch over the log with your feet about shoulder-width apart. Grip both handles with palms facing and keep your back flat.

Step 2 of 4
Drive up through your legs and hips. Pull the log close and roll it onto your chest.

Step 3 of 4
Press the log straight overhead until your arms lock out. Keep your feet parallel and your head through your arms.

Step 4 of 4
Lower the log under control back to the floor. Reset your crouch for the next rep.
Breathing
- Breathe normally.
Form Cues
- Keep your back flat at the start
- Keep the log close to your body
- Drive with the legs first
- Lower under control
Common Mistakes to Avoid
- Rounding the back off the floor
- Pulling with the arms only
- Pressing with a leaning back
- Dropping the log from overhead
Safety Information
Heavy implement lift for experienced gym users with coaching. Never drop the log from overhead. A lighter substitute is a sandbag or kettlebell clean and press. Use a clear floor and a spotter if you are unsure.
