Step-by-Step Guide

  1. A woman lying on her back on an inclined glideboard, both hands holding cable handles just above her face, elbows bent.

    Step 1 of 3

Lie on your back on the glideboard, facing away from the height-adjustment column, with both feet flat on the board. Grip one handle in each hand and bend your elbows so both hands sit just above your face.

  2. The same woman, now with both arms extended straight, having pushed the handles away from her chest and face.

    Step 2 of 3

Keeping your elbow position stationary, push both handles away from your chest until your arms are straight.

  3. A woman lying on her back on an inclined glideboard, both hands holding cable handles just above her face, elbows bent.

    Step 3 of 3

Lie on your back on the glideboard, facing away from the height-adjustment column, with both feet flat on the board. Grip one handle in each hand and bend your elbows so both hands sit just above your face.

Safety Information

Keep the elbow position stationary throughout -- letting the upper arms drift or flare changes which muscles carry the load. If you have a shoulder, elbow, or wrist injury, ask a physical therapist or physician before attempting this exercise, because it loads the extending arms against a cable while reclined on a sliding apparatus. Stop and bring both handles back toward your face with control immediately if you feel a pinch, sharp pain, or loss of grip at any point in the extension. Stop if the exercise causes pain or you become unwell. Seek appropriate professional advice about symptoms or suitability.
