Safety Information
Use a light plate first, because pressing a plate overhead loads the shoulders, elbows and lower back. If you have a shoulder, neck, elbow or lower back problem, ask a physical therapist or physician before attempting this exercise, because it takes a load overhead with both arms. Stop and lower the plate to chest level with control if you feel a pinch or sharp pain in a shoulder, elbow or your back, or if the plate starts to slip from your hands. Stop if the exercise causes pain or you become unwell. Seek appropriate professional advice about symptoms or suitability.
