Step-by-Step Guide

  1. A man standing inside a loaded rectangular frame, knees bent, gripping both side handles with a neutral grip, back flat.

    Step 1 of 5

Stand centred inside the frame, feet hip-width and toes slightly out, bend your knees and grip the side handles, back flat and shoulder blades set.

  2. A man mid-pull, the frame just off the floor, hips and knees extending together, shoulders above the side handles.

    Step 2 of 5

Drive the floor away and extend your hips and knees together to lift the frame, shoulders staying over the handles.

  3. A man standing fully erect inside the lifted frame, knees locked, shoulders back, holding the handles at his sides under control.

    Step 3 of 5

Finish fully erect - knees locked, shoulders back, holding the frame still under control.

  4. A man hinging his hips back and bending his knees, the frame sinking level toward the floor under control.

    Step 4 of 5

Hinge your hips back and bend your knees to lower the frame under control until it touches the floor.

  5. A man standing inside a loaded rectangular frame, knees bent, gripping both side handles with a neutral grip, back flat.

    Step 5 of 5

Stand centred inside the frame, feet hip-width and toes slightly out, bend your knees and grip the side handles, back flat and shoulder blades set.

Safety Information

Practise on a flat, even floor with the frame centred and the plates secured - and keep fingers clear of the frame rails when it settles back to the floor. Anyone with a back, hip, knee, wrist or grip problem should ask a physical therapist or physician before attempting this exercise and stop at pain or dizziness. Repeat only within a comfortable range and stop on unusual pain. Stop if the exercise causes pain or you become unwell. Seek appropriate professional advice about symptoms or suitability.
