Using a band to provide resistance as you move the big toe away from the other toes. Targets the abductor hallucis muscle, important for bunion management.
Band Big Toe Flexion
Using a resistance band to strengthen big toe flexion. Band pulls toe up while you press it down. Essential for push-off power.
Band Resisted Hip IR/ER (Standing)
Standing hip rotation against band resistance for rotational control and strength.
Banded Ankle Walks
Walk with resistance band around ankles or feet. Adds challenge to maintain ankle and hip stability during walking.
Big Toe Extension Mobilization
Self-mobilization to improve big toe extension range. Important for walking push-off mechanics and hallux rigidus management.
Big Toe Flexion/Extension (Assisted)
Gently bending the big toe up and down using your fingers to assist. Maintains or improves big toe joint mobility, especially important for hallux rigidus.
Big Toe Press (Hallux Isometric)
Isolated pressing of the big toe into the floor. Critical for gait propulsion and first ray stability.
Box Jump
Plyometric exercise jumping onto elevated surface for hip power development.
Box Jump (Low)
Jump onto a low box and step down. Develops power while practicing soft landings.
Box Jump (Low)
Explosive jumping onto box for power development. Only for those fully recovered with no symptoms during impact.
Box Jumps (Low Box)
Jumping onto a low box and stepping down. Plyometric exercise for power development and landing mechanics.
Box Squat
Squat to box or bench for controlled depth and safe hip strengthening.
Box Step-Off to Stick Landing
Step off low box and land softly, holding landing position. Trains deceleration and landing mechanics.
Bulgarian Split Squat
Single-leg squat with rear foot elevated. Builds unilateral leg strength and hip stability for SI joint support.
Bulgarian Split Squat (Rear Foot Elevated)
Split squat with rear foot elevated on a bench. Excellent single-leg strength and quad development.
Calf Raise (Double Leg)
Rise up onto toes with both feet. Calves absorb impact and help protect the knee.
Calf Raise (Single Leg)
Single-leg calf strengthening. Builds the calf strength needed for running and jumping.
Calf Raise Hold at Top
Rising onto toes and holding at the top position for extended time. Builds calf and forefoot endurance.
Calf Raise on Step (Full Range)
Calf raises on step edge for greater range of motion. Allows heels to drop below level for full stretch.
Calf Raise to Toe Spread
Rising onto toes (calf raise) then actively spreading toes at the top. Combines calf strength with toe muscle activation.
Calf Raise with Pause
Calf raises with isometric hold at top. Adds time under tension for greater strength and control.
Cutting Drill (45-degree)
Jogging forward then cutting at a 45-degree angle. Sport-specific movement for athletes returning to cutting/pivoting activities.
Depth Drop to Stick
Step off box and land with immediate controlled stop (stick). Trains rapid force absorption and ankle stiffness.
Depth Jump
Step off box, land, and immediately explode into jump. Advanced plyometric for reactive power.
Doming with Heel Down
Like short foot, but with emphasis on keeping the heel firmly anchored. Builds arch control while maintaining stable base.
Front Squat
Barbell squat with bar in front rack position. Emphasizes quadriceps and requires upright torso.
Goblet Squat
Squat while holding a weight at your chest. The counterbalance often helps depth and form.
Good Morning (Bodyweight)
Bodyweight hip hinge exercise for posterior chain activation and hamstring flexibility.
Hip Hinge Drill
Foundational movement pattern teaching proper hip hinge mechanics for deadlift preparation.
Lateral Lunge (Controlled)
Side lunge with emphasis on controlled movement for adductor and glute development.
Lateral Lunge (Loaded)
Weighted side lunge for adductor and glute strength in frontal plane.
Lateral Step-Up
Side-stepping onto platform for glute medius and hip control training.
Marble Pick-Up
Pick up small objects (marbles, coins, or pebbles) with toes and place them in a cup. Improves toe dexterity and grip strength.
Marble Pickups
Pick up small objects with toes and move them to new location. Fun exercise for foot dexterity and intrinsic strength.
Plantar Fascia Foot Roll
Roll ball under foot to massage plantar fascia and foot muscles. Helpful for plantar fasciitis and general foot tension.
Plantar Fascia Gentle Stretch
Gentle stretching of the plantar fascia by pulling the toes back. Combined with light massage. Essential for plantar fasciitis management.
Plantar Fascia Toe Extension Stretch
Gently pull toes back to stretch the plantar fascia on bottom of foot. Helpful for plantar fasciitis and foot stiffness.
Resisted Toe Flexion (Band or Manual)
Curling all toes against resistance from a band or therapist's hand. Strengthens toe flexors for grip and propulsion.
Reverse Lunge
Step backward into a lunge position. Often easier on knees than forward lunges.
Rubber Band Toe Spread
Place a rubber band around all toes and spread them apart against resistance. Strengthens toe abductor muscles.

Seated Toe Flexion Pull-Down With a Hand-Held Spring Loop Toe Device
You sit with one foot on the floor and a hand-held spring toe device looped around your big toe. You pull the big toe down against the spring, then release.
Short Foot (Arch Doming)
Activate arch muscles to 'shorten' the foot without curling toes. Foundational exercise for foot intrinsic strength and arch support.
Short Foot (Arch Lift)
The foundational 'foot core' exercise. Pull the ball of the foot toward the heel to lift the arch without curling the toes. Essential for foot stability and arch strength.
Side Lunge
Lateral lunge for adductor strength and frontal plane hip control.
